About The Role

 

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps & Cloud Engineer to help operate, support and improve our cloud infrastructure and application delivery platforms.

Working alongside our Senior DevOps Engineer and development teams, you will support AWS and Kubernetes environments, containerised applications, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and security processes. The role combines planned project work with day-to-day operational support across production and non-production environments.

This role would suit someone who enjoys troubleshooting, automating repetitive tasks and developing their knowledge of modern cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities 

 

    • Help maintain and support AWS infrastructure across production and non-production environments.
    • Deploy and support containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
    • Maintain CI/CD pipelines for application builds, testing and deployments.
    • Implement infrastructure and configuration changes using Terraform and Ansible.
    • Monitor system availability, application performance and infrastructure capacity.
    • Investigate incidents, failed deployments, performance problems and connectivity issues, escalating complex or high-impact issues when required.
    • Maintain logging, metrics, dashboards and alerts using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and CloudWatch.
    • Support secure management of credentials and application secrets.
    • Apply operating-system, container and application updates.
    • Help remediate infrastructure and application security findings.
    • Assist with backup, recovery and incident-response procedures.
    • Work with developers to troubleshoot applications across frontend, backend, database and messaging services.
    • Produce and maintain infrastructure diagrams, operational runbooks and technical documentation.
    • Recommend and implement agreed improvements to reliability, security, performance and cost efficiency.

Essential Experience

 

    • Practical experience supporting AWS or another major cloud platform.
    • Experience working with Docker and containerised applications.
    • Experience building, maintaining or using CI/CD pipelines.
    • Familiarity with infrastructure as code or deployment automation.
    • A basic understanding of cloud networking, including subnets, security groups, routing, DNS and load balancers.
    • Experience working with Git and pull-request-based workflows.
    • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
    • A security-conscious approach to infrastructure and application delivery.
    • Ability to produce clear technical documentation.

 

Desirable Experience

 

    • Kubernetes, Amazon EKS or another container-orchestration platform.
    • AWS services including ECS, EC2, RDS, ECR, IAM, VPC, Route 53, S3 and CloudWatch.
    • Terraform and Ansible.
    • Helm and Kubernetes operators.
    • GitHub Actions, Woodpecker CI or a similar CI/CD platform.
    • PostgreSQL administration, connection pooling and performance monitoring.
    • Prometheus, Grafana and centralised logging platforms.
    • HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager or External Secrets Operator.
    • NATS or another messaging or event-streaming platform.
    • AWS security services, including CloudTrail, Security Hub, Inspector and AWS Config.
    • IAM roles, policies and least-privilege access.
    • Backup, disaster-recovery or business-continuity processes.
    • ISO 27001 or a similar security and compliance framework.
    • Cloud cost monitoring and optimisation.
    • Good Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
